Poirier has worked for more than 34 years for the Sûreté du Québec, 23 of which were spent implementing emergency policies, ending his career as head of Emergency Services. He was in charge of planning and implementing security, maintenance and order recovery projects (The Americas Summit, North American Leaders’ Summit, G7, G8, G20, Summit of French-speaking countries, indigenous conflicts, student conflicts, conflicts in the mining, fishing, forestry and transport industries and certain natural disasters). He was Head of Missions for the National Civil Security Plan (PNSC) and represented the SQ at the coroner’s office. He graduated from the National Police School (ENPQ), the Canadian Police College (senior police administration), the National School of public administration (civil security) and the National Training Center for French National Police Forces (Gendarmerie).
